You call this purring. But we call it mother-hum. It is for calming, when our mothers sing it to us, and it is for calming when we sing it to ourselves.
I know you can’t purr, you aren’t built right. But as things get busier and you find yourself chasing the tail of the year, if you need a calming, remember the hum your mother used. Use it for yourself. She’d want you to.

Breakfast. Particularly with meat. But not if you have to jump up on the counter to get it.

…but you knew it was bound to happen sometimes. Think of it as a “So You Want To Be A Cat” class lab.
Enjoy!

It has moved from the floor. That would not be so bad, but it has moved from my favorite window, too–the one with the wide wide sill that’s good for sleeping.
I will find it. I know it’s here, somewhere.

We poke our ears in a particular way, and step and step and step, usually on something very soft. We are looking but not looking. There are many names for it, but the one that makes me smile the most is “kneading biscuits”.
The reason we do this is because we are remembering. Think back to the lesson on smell. Touch is another way we remember, just like smell is–we are remembering our mothers, specifically, when we do this–but you can use it to remember your mate, or your young ones, or anyone in your clowder.
The next time you get to touch someone, focus all your think-stuff on your pads. Don’t take touch for granted. Cats don’t. If you work at it, you will be able to make a remember of the ones you care about, a thought-picture, just from that. It won’t hurt if you’ve smelled them too, of course. You should be practicing smelling things more anyway.
Today it is cold. Wet, also. Out both doors!
I will check them again tomorrow and let you know if this trend continues.

Sometimes, when I go to put the name of this blog somewhere, it comes out “thelittlefuzzycat” instead of “thelittlefluffycat”. Today I did it in just the right spot, and wordpress informed me that “thelittlefuzzycat” doesn’t exist, so I could be that if I wanted to be.
You know, I think I already knew that, somewhere in my walnut brain. And some days the little fuzzy cat does exist, and I am thelittlefuzzycat–even if on the outside I am still my fluffy self. But I think I will stay just thelittlefluffycat, here. It makes it easier for you to find me. Sometimes it even makes it easier for me to find me.

I saw a cat on a car today. It was quite cold, and the cat’s back was humped high and round. It struck me, passing by, that it looked like a very large snail.
I’m not sure I can look at snails quite the same way anymore.

I am thankful for my mate, and my young ones, and all the members of my pride. (Big Bad Kitty says I should call it that, even though there is a different name, clowder, for we small fur people.) I am thankful to be a Clawed One. I am thankful for my bed, and my special pillow. I am thankful for fall and winter, which make me even more beautiful. I am thankful for staff. I am thankful for string.
And I’m thankful for WordPress.
What are you thankful for?

I understand that a large bird will be cooked. I am hoping it is one of the mockingbirds from the backyard. I would prefer it raw–but cooked is nice too.
