Panda was not a tuxedo, she was black and white in patches. Her fur wasn’t messy-long, it was just not-short, not-long perfect. It always smelled perfect too, like a mink coat. She was the cleanest cat ever, and she cleaned everyone, even the humans, till they were up to her standards. The humans thought she was adorable, and she got all kinds of goodies out of them as a result…they even gave her avocado peels that she licked clean ! After a while, she got to where she expected to be given something every time someone made something she wanted.
One day, when she didn’t get any of the tuna being made (she didn’t know it had onions and mustard and Worcestershire sauce and other things in it), she decided to jump up and get some right off the plate. She miscalculated, and landed with all four feet on the plate. Her feet were covered with mayonnaise and she was horribly embarrassed. She thought, “At least I’ll get what I lick off!” but when she ran away and licked it off she yarked and yarked, and realized why they didn’t give it to her in the first place.
Moral: Sometimes it’s good if you don’t get everything you think you want, and sometimes the people who don’t give it to you are doing you a favor.

Poor thing.
Comment by pandemonic February 5, 2008 @ 12:01 pmThis reminded me of Garth Brooks’ song “Unanswered Prayers”. Getting what we ask for isn’t always what’s best for us.

Ina,Shawn–I think this is one of the ways humans and cats are alike.
Comment by thelittlefluffycat February 6, 2008 @ 9:00 amI read this to a certain pizza-wanting cat sitting at my feet. I don’t think he shares the philosophical outlook, though.
